The Best Mean Girl Characters in Film & TV

What would a teenage/young adult television show or movie be without a mean girl? We need the villain in order to highlight the hero. Cady Heron is nothing without Regina George in Mean Girls. Sure, we hate the mean girl, but we also worship her in that love-to-hate sort of way. Here are the 10 best mean girls in movies and TV.
Regina George, "Mean Girls"

Regina (Rachel McAdams), leader of the Plastics and high school queen bee, may be the definition of cruel. Her favorite past time is tarnishing the reputation of other students and teachers. She puts together a "burn book" filled with horrific rumors and career-ruining slander.

Blair Waldorf, "Gossip Girl"
Perhaps this Gossip Girl quote from Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) sums up her character best? "There's only one queen bitch in this town, and that's me." The Upper East Side lover of labels and headbands may have a tough-as-nails exterior, but she also possesses a deep sensitive side... that she will do anything to hide.

Kathryn Merteuil, "Cruel Intentions"
Cruel Intentions is an adaptation of the novel Les Liaisons and a teenage re-imagining of the film Dangerous Liaisons. Kathryn (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is the film's main bad girl. She finds it amusing to lie, scheme, and snort copious amounts of cocaine. Her favorite pastime is breaking other people's hearts through villainous manipulation.

Chanel Oberlin, "Scream Queens"
Chanel (Emma Roberts) is everything you expect from a sorority president. She is the iron-fisted leader of KKT and will stop at nothing to stay at the top of the social food chain. The Greek goddess doesn't even bother to learn any of her sisters' names, instead they are her "minions." She simply labels them Chanel #2, Chanel #4, etc.

Alison DiLaurentis, "Pretty Little Liars"
Before her disappearance, Alison was the popular queen bee of her teenage clique. Her social status put her in prime position to blackmail, manipulate, lie, cheat, and even shove a girl down the steps at a frat party.

Katerina Petrova, ''The Vampire Diaries''
Katherine is the ultimate doppelgänger, descended from Amara and Tatia. She is an ex-vampire and the ex-lover to both Salvatore brothers, Damon and Stefan. She first appears as Katherine Pierce in recurring flashbacks to 1864, which feature her romantic entanglements with the Salvatore brothers. She managed to turn them both into vampires, but she was consequently captured by the townspeople of Mystic Falls to be killed in Fells Church where they planned to lock the vampires in before setting it alight. She later appears in present day.

Sadie Saxton, "Awkward"
Sadie (Molly Tarlov) is one of the rich popular girls at high school who instantly dislikes anyone who is below her on the social ladder. She collects enemies like a baseball fanatic would collect trading cards. She even mocks Jenna after her suicide attempt.

Courtney Shayne, "Jawbreaker"
Courtney (Rose McGowan) is queen bee of her popular high school clique. Basically, she and her friends are responsible for accidentally murdering their friend with a jawbreaker. Courtney ruthlessly tries to cover up the incident and will stop at nothing to keep it a secret
.
Chris Hargensen, "Carrie"
Chris Hargensen is the mean girl that all other mean girls are measured against. It is Chris, high school beauty/bully, who sparks the teenage rage in Carrie White (Sissy Spacek) that ultimately leads to many teenagers dying on their prom night. Chris plots the scheme and pulls the cord that dumps gallons of vile pig blood all over Carrie.

Heather Chandler, "Heathers"
Heather Chandler (Kim Walker) is the leader of the high school clique called the Heathers. She is ruthless, vindictive, and self-absorbed. The group is so powerful that they are universally feared around Westerburg High, until J.D. (Christian Slater) makes her his first victim.
